HI, I’M LINDSEY

I teach people how to incorporate healthy foods and habits into their days without extremes, so they can feel good, move toward their health goals, and connect to their deepest power.

It all started with a journal and a saying.

As a young girl, my mom provided me with blank page after blank page of beautiful, glossy hardback journals that I eagerly filled with the details of my days and inner life.

And from my earliest memories to the day I lost him to a heart attack, my father encouraged me with these words of wisdom: Lindsey, stay within yourself.

This was his way of saying to let my intuition (or inner voice) guide me.

I was hooked on journaling. When the film Harriet the Spy was released in July of 1996, I spent the subsequent summer riveted by the act of capturing everything on the page, just like Harriet. Although, at that point, I had no mystery to solve. 😏

I see now that this habit helped me develop a connection to that inner voice my dad was always nudging me toward. To access my intuition. Over the years I would learn that this intuitive skill is one of the most insightful and powerful tools available to me — and you, too.

This habit of journaling went with me through every season of life and came to its fullest potential after graduating college and moving to Seoul, South Korea to teach English.

While I studied the Korean language and did my best to communicate appropriately, I couldn’t help but notice how much more clearly I could listen — to my body and inner voice — without the constant awareness of my native language chattering around me.

Looking back, I see that this inability to absorb so many messages allowed me to connect with myself in a powerful and impactful way.

From the pages of my 2011 journals:

“Living in Korea has taught me quite a few things in the few months that I’ve been here…I learn something new about myself or life everyday.”

“Everything hurts…”

“My body is not right…Whether it be an allergy, anxiety, or a crummy metabolism, my body is straight up messed up…”

“My body feels terrible. I’m trying to find the words to describe it…”

“Now is the time to provide everything it needs for recovery.”

After seeking help through various medical routes — both conventional and integrative — we weren’t finding any clear answers.

Thus, my mystery to solve presented itself. 🕵️‍♀️

It ended up being my journaling habit that led to the most pivotal discoveries for my health: Some of my most troubling and problematic symptoms were greatly affected by what I did or did not eat in a day.

I ended up back in Oklahoma, barely able to get off my mom’s couch from fatigue, digestive distress, and body pain.

I continued seeking help from doctors, bringing my newfound insights around food and my body to the exam table. Only, at that point, this information was thoroughly dismissed, and I was encouraged, once again, to medicate my pains and troubles.

Yet, I had pages and pages of personal data that connected my food habits and symptoms. More so than any medication I had ever been prescribed.

I left that doctor’s office and knew the path I had to take.

I went back to my mom’s and immediately began searching for education and training for holistic nutrition.

I spent my days soaking up book after book about the power and potential of food, writing down the benefits of foods like sweet potatoes, spinach, avocado, and maca — what’s maca? And where can I get that? — and covering the front of the fridge with those details.

I gathered up as many of those foods as I could find, and got to work trying new recipes that didn’t turn my body into an inferno.

I learned that there was a new, cutting-edge culinary academy in my state. I applied for a job there waiting tables at its attached restaurant and was promptly offered a job within the academy itself, no doubt thanks to my enthusiasm and determination. It’s there that I met Jamie, brilliant chef and flavor genius, who is now my husband and business partner.

It was clear that we were a dynamic duo — passionate about helping others find health, relief, and freedom through the food they brought to their plates. In 2012, Nourished Food Co. was born.

Today, I’m a functional nutrition health coach, with over ten years of experience and training from thought-leaders in the field of functional medicine and nutrition.

Through 1:1 coaching and online courses, I teach people how to connect to their health stories and find their inner voice to uncover a powerful, sustainable path to health and healing.

I think it takes a special kind of person to push through their health challenges and ask, What’s my body telling me? What insights can I learn from listening to myself?

Let’s meet online and continue sharing stories.
